Erling Haaland absent from Manchester City travelling squad against Luton Town
Manchester City will be without Erling Haaland for their Premier League clash against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Sunday afternoon, according to reports.
The Norway international forward has been in high-scoring form during the opening weeks of the season, picking up where he left off from his Treble-winning success of the 2022/23 campaign and the records broken across the season.
In his 22 appearances for Manchester City so far this season, across the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FA Community Shield, Erling Haaland has scored an impressive 19 goals and provided five assists in the process.
However, that goal contribution tally will not be continuing this weekend in Manchester City’s next Premier League outing, after reports on Saturday evening detailed his absence from Pep Guardiola’s travelling squad.
According to the information of Jake Gorfin, Erling Haaland has not travelled with the rest of the Manchester City squad on Saturday night ahead of their clash against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Sunday afternoon.
At present, it remains unknown as to what the thinking is behind the omission of Haaland, or what the problem is facing the Norwegian after he featured for the complete 90 minutes against Aston Villa in midweek.
Following the meeting with the newly-promoted side coached by Rob Edwards this weekend, Manchester City will round off their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign with a trip to face Serbian outfit Crvena zvezda away from home.
That clash will provide Pep Guardiola with the perfect opportunity to rest and rotate his squad, after the reigning Champions of Europe secured top spot in the group through victory against RB Leipzig in their last outing in the competition.
