The Football Association have now finalised fixture information for Manchester City’s Emirates FA Cup third round tie against Huddersfield Town next month.

Pep Guardiola and his players will be hoping to retain their crown in the FA Cup for the very first time under the Catalan coach, having claimed the trophy for just a second time as part of their historic Treble success last season.

City’s cup final victory over bitter rivals Manchester United towards the end of last season followed on from a Premier League title victory ahead of nearest challengers Arsenal, and preceded a UEFA Champions League success in Istanbul.

Now, as Manchester City continue to battle away in the Premier League during the most hectic time in the annual fixture schedule, details for their opening games in the FA Cup have now also been confirmed.

Following confirmation from the FA this week, it can now be revealed that Emirates FA Cup holders Manchester City will take on Championship side Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 7 January, with kick-off scheduled for 14:00 (UK).

While the contest will not be available on terrestrial television for those residing in the United Kingdom, it has been confirmed that those in the UK will be able to watch the contest live on BBC iPlayer.

Manchester City last met the Yorkshire club in the Emirates FA Cup back in the 2016/17 season, beating the Terriers 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium in a fifth-round replay following a draw at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Pep Guardiola and his players will have the opportunity to secure silverware in the run-up to the meeting in the FA Cup, as they head to Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Success at the tournament would mark their second silverware triumph this season, having claimed the UEFA Super Cup in Athens in the summer courtesy of victory over Europa League experts and current holders Sevilla.
