Yan Couto has opened up on his potential future at Premier League champions Manchester City after a sensational campaign with Girona so far.

The 21-year-old has made himself a key figure in City Football Group affiliate club Girona’s scintillating start in La Liga this season. The Spanish outfit sit in second in the league, tied on points with Real Madrid after 14 games.

Making appearances in all but one of those clashes, City loanee Couto has contributed with a goal and three assists from his wing-back role. But it is yet to be revealed whether or not the Brazilian is in the plans at the Etihad Stadium going forward.

City Football Group players have rarely made their way to the Manchester City first team, and speaking in a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, and relayed by Sports Witness, Couto opened up on his future desires.

“I want to be at the highest level and I am very happy to be at Girona,” Couto said. “But I also want to play in the Champions League, I don’t know if here or at Manchester City, although I love Spain.

“I see myself playing more in LaLiga, but we have to see what options we can consider for next year [season]. We have to talk about it, why not be here another year?

“I think it is also a City Group plan and will be discussed at the time, although we will leave it until the end of the season.”

With a thin squad at Pep Guardiola’s disposal this season, particularly in the full-back roles, only time will tell if Manchester City will look towards their City Football Group pool in the coming transfer windows.

But for the time being, Pep Guardiola’s Treble-winning side side are off to a solid start in the Premier League, sitting in second place, just one point behind league leaders Arsenal after 13 games.
