Manchester City are set to lose their striking sensation Erling Haaland to Real Madrid within the next three years, according to fresh comments from Spanish media.

Since joining the Etihad Stadium club in the summer of 2022 from Borussia Dortmund, transfer speculation concerning the Norway international has been largely continuous, with several sources doubting Haaland’s long-term commitment to Manchester City.

Such reports continue despite recent details revealing the removal of a release clause following the extension of Pep Guardiola’s contract at Manchester City, which was made official by the club one year ago.

However, as per reporting from Jack Gaughan of MailSport, it is said to be ‘likely’ that a potential release clause will be discussed as City seek an agreement with Haaland over a contract extension.

While plans over potential contract negotiations between Manchester City and Team Haaland remain in the works, reports from Spanish media continue to speculate of a future move to Real Madrid, with the latest revelations putting a timeframe on such an event.

That is according to the information of journalist Antonio Guijarro while speaking on his show ‘Guijarro en clave Blaugrana’, as relayed by Defensa Central and translated by Sport Witness, Erling Haaland will become a Real Madrid player within ‘two or three years’.

Guijarro explained, “They assure me that in two or three years, (Erling) Haaland will be a Real Madrid player. That’s what the player has decided, he has already let his father know. Haaland loves Real Madrid, he wants to play for Real Madrid.”

Erling Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta has often been very outspoken about the future of the 23-year-old, both in terms of the financial growth the player can oversee during his career, as well as his on-field potential.

Speaking recently with regards to where the Manchester City can go in his career, Pimenta admitted, “Wherever he wants. He’s a player that’s never been seen. His quality in everything and ability for evolution are very impressive.

“He is capable of adapting quickly to a new club, to a team, to the coach. It is as if he had always been there. That gives you a lot of peace of mind and allows you to move forward.”

Pimenta continued, “He is very calm in his professional and personal life, he has the quality, today he is in the right place, with the right team and the right coach. In Brazil, we say that the sky’s the limit. I think he will break all records.”

Speculating on Erling Haaland’s transfer valuation, despite Manchester City only paying around £55 million for the Norway international, Pimenta recently believed that the striker would be worth around the £1 billion mark.

Whether or not that speculation will ever be realised remains to be seen, however Real Madrid will almost certainly be paying close attention to developments at Manchester City when it comes to future contract negotiations between all parties and a possible release clause.
