La Liga star believes Manchester City will come calling should he continue ‘doing well’ in Spain

Manchester City will come calling for one La Liga star’s signature, should his top-level performances continue into the season, the player himself has admitted.
That is the belief of 2004-born Brazilian winger Savio, who has been a shining light in Girona’s pursuit of a historic La Liga triumph, as they top the Spanish division ahead of the likes of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Savinho is currently on loan from Ligue 1 side ESTAC Troyes, who are also part-owned by the City Football Group (CFG), developing his game in the Spanish division where the style of football is widely deemed to be closest to the vision admired by CFG officials.
Across the 19-year-old’s 13 appearances so far in La Liga competition this season, the teenager has registered an impressive four goals and four assists, with his performances highly likely to have caught the eye of Manchester City transfer bosses.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with Spanish newspaper Marca, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Brazilian youngster Savinho – also known as Savio – admitted his admiration for the City Football Group project as a whole.
“The City Group is a very good project,” the 19-year-old said. “I was at PSV, now in Girona. At PSV I didn’t play as much, but I learned a lot. I have to thank PSV for opening the doors to me, because the things I learned there have helped me be well at Girona today.”
The teenager continued, hinting at possible future interest from Manchester City, by stating, “The City Group’s project is first class, and I think that if I do well, Manchester City will want me.”
On 30 June 2022, Atlético announced an agreement with the City Football Group for the transfer of Sávio, set at €6.5 million, with another €6 million in variables. He was initially assigned to Troyes
Savinho originally made the move to European football in the summer transfer window of 2022, with Atletico Mineiro confirming on June 30 that they had reached an agreement with the City Football Group over a €6.5 million initial fee with another €6 million in variables.
Following his switch to the City Football Group, Savio was then assigned to ESTAC Troyes in France, before a loan to Dutch giants PSV would follow, but making a real name for himself during the ongoing 2023/24 season with a campaign-long loan move to Girona.
