Manchester City make THIRD trip to monitor performances of Liga Portugal side’s talent
Officials from Manchester City have made a third trip to monitor one Liga Portugal side in competitive action in 2023, reports have revealed this week.
That concerns FC Porto and the performances of their players this calendar year, with Manchester City having previously monitored the side back in January as well as most recently in September.
It was reported in mid-January by Portuguese media that the Premier League champions had sent scouts view the performances of players at FC Porto against Famalicão in the Primeira Liga.
As for this season in particular, Portuguese newspapers revealed that last season’s UEFA Champions League winners had a club representative watching the game between Porto and Arouca in Liga Portugal action.
Now, according to information provided by Portuguese newspapers Record and O Jogo this week, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, it is revealed that City sent scouts to the Liga Portugal match between FC Vizela and FC Porto on Sunday.
It is further detailed that on the same day that the two sides met in the globally-viewed Manchester derby, city rivals United had also sent officials to monitor the exact same match which was won by Porto via a 0-2 scoreline.
It remains unknown which player in particular Manchester City have monitored from the Porto-based club, however standout players have been mooted across social media while the best performers from the most recent clash may have caught their attention.
26-year-old central midfielder Stephen Eustaquio was the highest-rated player from the contest, according to Sofascore, and registered his name on the scoresheet whilst also completing 82% of his 60 attempted passes.
