City Xtra nominated for Fan Media, Channel or Podcast of the Season at the 2023 Northwest Football Awards

We are excited to announce that City Xtra has been nominated for Fan Media, Channel or Podcast of the Season at the prestigious Northwest Football Awards for 2023.
The Northwest Football Awards honours and celebrates footballing elite in the whole of the region, recognising excellence both on and off the field of play.
Manchester City themselves have been recognised at this year’s awards. It was confirmed earlier this month that Erling Haaland had been nominated for their 2023 Premier League Player of the Season alongside Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
Breakthrough Academy graduate Rico Lewis has also been nominated for the Northwest Football Awards’ Rising Star of the Season for 2023, in association with The Athletic.
Alongside Manchester City’s on-field nominations, City Xtra are now both excited and honoured to reveal that we have been nominated for Fan Media, Channel or Podcast of the Season, alongside The Redmen TV (Liverpool) and The Scarf Bergara Wore (Stockport County).
This is City Xtra’s second appearance at the annual Northwest Football Awards, having been nominated for the 2022 edition of the ceremony at Emirates Old Trafford, with The Boundary Park Alert System (Oldham Athletic) claiming the prize on the night.
Our nomination at the 2023 Northwest Football Awards tops off a truly special year covering Manchester City across a range of media channels, with the last nine months seeing our editorial, social, and video team enjoying the triumphs of a Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League treble success.
The City Xtra social and video channels themselves have now reached a total of 1.3 million followers across platforms, maintaining our position as holding the largest independent cross-social Manchester City online community at present.
Speaking upon receiving our nomination at the 2023 Northwest Football Awards, City Xtra founder Freddie Pye said, “It is a real pleasure to be returning to such a prestigious occasion for the second year running, and a true testament to the hugely talented team we have that have covered this special football club over the last 12 months in particular.
“Bringing 24/7, cross-social coverage of Manchester City to such a vast global audience continues to be an honour for both myself and the entire team, and receiving recognition by NWFA is a really special moment.
“As we close in on five years of operation, attending the Northwest Football Awards in November will be a great way to celebrate the fantastic work we have all put in to build such a special community of Manchester City supporters, and I would like to thank the judges at NWFA for selecting City Xtra as one of their finalists for Fan Media, Channel or Podcast of the Season.”
City Xtra director Jordan Rothwell said, “I feel honoured and proud that City Xtra has been nominated at the Northwest Football Awards. A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes on all fronts to deliver the best content we possibly can.
“None of this works without the fans and the people who support us, so big love to everyone who has helped us on this journey.”
CityXtra.co.uk editor and social media producer Harry Winters commented, “It’s a real honour to be nominated for a Northwest Football Award off the back of an incredible year for both City Xtra and Manchester City.
“It was a real privilege to be able to cover such an historic and momentous season, and it is brilliant to see the tireless work of the CX team rewarded regionally, with a nomination for such a prestigious award.”
City Xtra would like to give a special thanks to our entire online audience for their outstanding and continuous support over the last 12 months, and since our formation during the 2018/2019 season.
The Northwest Football Awards return to The Point at Emirates Old Trafford on Monday 6th November 2023.
