| Last Updated:

Newcastle United or Manchester City will discover their opponents for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup later this week, as the third round of the competition takes place.

Manchester City and Newcastle United are amongst the sides to enter the competition at the third round stage, as Premier League teams competing in Europe start to also compete in the Carabao Cup.

Eddie Howe’s side reached the final at Wembley Stadium last season, meanwhile Manchester City, who have won the competition on four occasions under Pep Guardiola, were dramatically dumped out of the League Cup at the quarter-final stages.

The Sky Blues have already beaten Newcastle ahead of Wednesday’s clash at St James’ Park, with the Magpies one of six Premier League sides to have lost to Manchester City during the opening weeks of the campaign.

Manchester City are still contending with an injury crisis ahead of the midweek cup clash, as John Stones, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne remain sidelined.

Rodri is suspended after being sent off against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, although Mateo Kovacic and Jack Grealish are close to returning to full fitness.
