Contract terms, interested parties, first reactions: Bernardo Silva signs bumper new Manchester City contract
Manchester City have announced that Bernardo Silva has penned a new contract until 2026 at the Etihad Stadium.
The 29-year-old, who first joined Manchester City from Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco in the summer of 2017, has signed his second contract extension with the club, extending his previous deal by one year until 2026.
The Portugal international helped Manchester City to a historic treble last season, scoring twice against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-final second-leg, and assisting Rodri’s winning goal against Inter Milan in Istanbul.
Bernardo Silva has won a total of 14 trophies so far and made over 300 appearances for Manchester City, with the club’s retention of the midfielder seen as crucial, following Ilkay Gundogan’s departure for FC Barcelona earlier in the summer.
Silva’s new deal also ends months of speculation surrounding the future of the midfielder, as the 29-year-old commits to remaining at the Etihad Stadium, where the Portuguese player will bid to become a six-time Premier League winner.
The midfielder is the third contract extension of the summer, after Nathan Ake and Rico Lewis agreed fresh terms with Manchester City following exemplary contributions to the historic campaign of 2022/23.
