Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has emerged as a transfer target for Bayern Munich, who are seeking to replace Yann Sommer.

The 30-year-old becomes the latest Manchester City star to be targeted by Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, who have previously been linked with both Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips.

The German club are seeking to replace current goalkeeper Yann Sommer, after successfully completing a deal to sign former Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Manchester City’s current second choice goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has emerged as a surprise target, with the former Arminia Bielefeld shot-stopper moving to the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer last summer.

Ortega was part of the Sky Blues’ treble-winning squad, conceding just one goal during a victorious Emirates FA Cup campaign which concluded against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium in June.

The goalkeeper made 14 appearances last season and made his Premier League debut against West Ham United in May.

Ortega also featured in two UEFA Champions League Group Stage matches, playing against Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla.

Bayern Munich reportedly consider the 30-year-old as a ‘top option’ and have already held talks with the player’s entourage surrounding a transfer to the Allianz Arena, according to Florian Plettenberg.

Manchester City are considering offering the goalkeeper a new contract, with the decision whether to leave the Etihad Stadium for Bavaria up to the player.

Pep Guardiola is ‘very confident’ in the German goalkeeper, however it is unlikely that the 30-year-old will displace current first choice Ederson, in the short-term.

Ortega is the third Manchester City player to be targeted by Thomas Tuchel’s side this summer, with Kyle Walker recently snubbing interest from the German club, despite agreeing personal terms.

Walker has opted to stay at the Etihad Stadium for the new campaign and is expected to sign a new contract following weeks of talks.
