Manchester City confirm 22-man travelling squad to face Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup

Manchester City have announced their 22-man travelling squad to face Sevilla in the 2023 UEFA Super Cup in Athens on Wednesday night.
Last season’s UEFA Champions League winners Manchester City have the opportunity to continue their domination on the continent by defeating the current Europa League winners Sevilla this week.
It is Manchester City’s second opportunity at claiming their first piece of silverware of the new season, with the UEFA Super Cup being a title that has so far alluded Pep Guardiola’s squad and the organisation as a whole in their history.
Sevilla are Manchester City’s opponents in the final – a team who are renowned as being experts in the Europa League, defeating AS Roma in the 2023 final in Budapest courtesy of a 4-1 penalty shoot-out victory.
As for Manchester City, they booked their place in the final following a memorable night in Istanbul, as Rodri’s goal from distance separated themselves and Inter via a 1-0 scoreline to claim their first ever Champions League title.
Ahead of the much-awaited UEFA Super Cup clash between Manchester City and Sevilla at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, Pep Guardiola has named his travelling squad for the contest.

Goalkeepers: Ederson, Ortega, Carson.
Defenders: Lewis, Walker, Akanji, Stones, Laporte, Gvardiol, Ake, Gomez.
Midfielders: Rodri, Phillips, Perrone, Kovacic, McAtee.

Bernardo Silva is the latest omission from Manchester City’s matchday selection, after reportedly feeling ‘some pain’ towards the end of Friday night’s 0-3 Premier League opening win against Burnley.
According to MailSport’s Jack Gaughan, Bernardo Silva is ‘unwell’.
Other notable absentees from the travelling party include Kevin De Bruyne, who sustained a hamstring problem during the win at Turf Moor and is due to undergo a scan to assess the severity of the issue, and Ruben Dias – who continues to recover from concussion.
Joao Cancelo remains excluded from Manchester City’s matchday squads as the Portugal international weighs up his options amid strong interest and conversation from FC Barcelona.
