Manchester City and Burnley will kick-off proceedings for a brand new Premier League campaign in the first fixture of the 2023/24 season on Friday night.

Pep Guardiola and his players will be looking to win a fourth successive Premier League title this season, becoming the first club to do so in a feat that would be added alongside a long list of remarkable achievements under the Catalan coach.

Burnley are the opponents on Friday night, full of confidence after a staggering season under Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany that saw them register over 100 points in a title-winning Championship season – the first club to reach such a tally.

Josko Gvardiol joins the Manchester City first-team squad list for the first time since completing a £78 million transfer from RB Leipzig, hoping that he can mark his first season at the club with a haul of silverware similar to last season.

Nathan Ake is back to full fitness after the Dutchman was ruled out through a lack of match fitness last weekend, while Ruben Dias has not been named in the first-team travelling squad list due to an injury.

Burnley could hand debuts to summer signings such as former Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, Zeki Amdouni, Sander Berge and Dara O’Shea. However, Michael Obafemi is ruled out with a hamstring issue.

Ahead of kick-off in the 20:00 start at Turf Moor, here is how both Vincent Kompany and Pep Guardiola line-up their respective Burnley and Manchester City line-ups.
