Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and the issue of his future at the Etihad Stadium has been described as a ‘slow situation’, as clubs circle for his signature.

The Portugal international continues to be at the centre of widespread transfer speculation this summer, despite him and his Manchester City teammates expected back for pre-season training from next week.

As Silva currently enjoys the final remaining days of a holiday in the Maldives, the player’s representatives continue to fine-tune his transfer options, to allow for Bernardo himself to weigh them up upon returning to England.

While Manchester City will be desperate to seek clarity on the future of Bernardo Silva for the sake of their own summer transfer plans, a new update has revealed the lack of speed on the matter and the absence of a swift resolution.

According to the latest update provided by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the situation concerning Bernardo Silva remains ‘slow’, with no ‘imminent’ resolution expected for the Manchester City midfielder.

It is reaffirmed that clubs from the ambitious Saudi Pro League project are ‘pushing’ for the signing of the Portugal international, however it is made clear that negotiating with Manchester City will ‘not be easy at all’.

The Premier League champions are firm in insisting on retaining the services of the 28-year-old, despite Paris Saint-Germain also known to be chasing the signature of the former AS Monaco playmaker.

Elsewhere, and Spanish media have returned with their own information on the future of Bernardo Silva, once again tying the Manchester City star with interest from Catalan giants Barcelona, despite their ongoing financial issues.

According to Mundo Deportivo, there is a ‘strong wish’ from manager Xavi to sign the player, and with the manager reportedly ‘insisting’ on the matter, the Manchester City midfielder is their ‘priority number one’.

As translated and relayed by Sport Witness, the report goes on to claim that Bernardo Silva himself is ‘dreaming’ about a move to Barcelona, with ‘sources from the changing room’ saying he is ‘crazy’ to join the club.

However, given the financial constraints currently on the club and affecting their transfer business, the report states that the ‘best formula’ to secure the player would be a loan with an obligatory buying clause.

Manchester City are expected to finalise the futures of a number of uncertain first-team players before re-entering the transfer market for new arrivals after their push for RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol comes to a conclusion.

There had been a belief that City would look for a new central midfielder in the coming weeks, however their failure to win the race for Declan Rice over Arsenal is understood to have removed the club from the market entirely unless a first-team squad member leaves.

Aymeric Laporte, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, and Riyad Mahrez all face the most uncertain futures at present, with clubs from the Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1, and Saudi Arabia all eyeing ambitious moves in the coming weeks and months.
