Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is trying to keep Bernardo Silva at the club next season despite ongoing interest from PSG.

Guardiola has already lost club captain Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona on a free transfer and still risks losing Bernardo Silva, who continues to be linked with an exit from the Etihad Stadium despite the potential offer of a new contract.

The 28 year-old has spent six seasons at Manchester City, making over 300 appearances and winning 14 trophies, including both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Silva played an integral role in City’s maiden Champions League success, as the Portugal midfielder scored twice against Real Madrid in the semi-final second-leg at the Etihad Stadium.

The midfielder has been linked with an exit from the club on numerous occasions despite being contracted at Manchester City until 2025, with Barcelona and PSG both showing a strong interest last summer.

Paris Saint-Germain have reaffirmed their interest in the 28 year-old following the departure of Lionel Messi, while the Saudi Pro League are also targeting the City star with a lucrative contract offer.

City are expected back at the City Football Academy for pre-season in less than two weeks, with Silva’s future seemingly still undecided and Guardiola pressing to keep hold of the midfielder.

Le Parisian claim that the City manager is ‘blocking everything’ and ‘doing everything’ to keep the Portuguese star at the Etihad Stadium next season, and as a result, negotiations between PSG and City for Bernardo Silva have ‘not really started’.

Despite Guardiola’s stance, the French outlet further claim that Silva is ‘pushing to pack up’ and already sees himself playing for PSG next season.

Silva has previously played in French top-flight having signed for Manchester City from AS Monaco in Ligue 1 in 2017.

The 28 year-old is one of several senior City first-team players to be linked with a possible summer exit; with Riyad Mahrez, Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker all subject to interest from elsewhere.
