Manchester City forward set for Premier League switch as player ‘sits on packed suitcases’ ahead of record-breaking deal
Another day, another round of Josko Gvardiol updates, as Manchester City continue to work on their number one priority target for the summer transfer window.
The Croatian central defender is seemingly waiting for both clubs to come to an agreement over a transfer fee, having informed his current Bundesliga employers of his desire to work under Pep Guardiola from the start of next season.
The Catalan coach meanwhile is busy knocking his Manchester City squad into shape, and as part of that process, is keen on securing the best form of development for some of his younger talents, namely Cole Palmer – who appears to be leaning towards a Premier League move next season.
Here is everything we found out on day 22 of Manchester City’s summer transfer window!
Arrivals
Josko Gvardiol will ‘soon’ become RB Leipzig’s new record departure when he joins Manchester City – a deal that is a ‘growing fact’. City have shown ‘ardent interest’ so there is a deal there to be done for €100M plus bonuses. Gvardiol currently ‘sits on packed suitcases’ waiting for the deal between City and Leipzig to be completed so he can move to England. (Leipziger Volkszeitung)
Pep Guardiola and Manchester City were ‘delighted’ with Rodrigo Riquelme‘s displays while he was on loan at Girona. Atletico Madrid have ‘made it known’ to City and other suitors that they will not listen to any offers below €30 million. City do not offer more than €15 million as they believe he will not be a regular under Guardiola next season. (Marca)
Departures
Manchester City are yet to receive any concrete offers for Aymeric Laporte. City want a good fee for the centre-back, and there is no definitive decision yet from either side on whether he leaves the club this summer. (Jamie Jackson)
Manchester City are keen to keep hold of Kyle Walker, but he is continuing to talk to Thomas Tuchel about a potential move to Bayern Munich – who are hoping the ‘persuasiveness’ of their manager can help them sign the full-back. Tuchel has convinced Walker of a move and he is ‘ready to step into the Bundesliga’, but City are keen to keep hold of him. (SportBILD)
Cole Palmer is likely to leave Manchester City on a Premier League loan this summer, with a temporary exit seen as ‘suiting all parties’ as he continues his development. (Pete O’Rourke, Football Insider)
