Manchester City join Chelsea and Liverpool in making enquiries over Real Madrid star

A trio of Premier League clubs including Manchester City have all made enquiries over the availability of Real Madrid’s Fede Valverde, according to reports.
The English top-flight is gearing up for yet another campaign that begins in early August, with many hoping that it could be one of the most competitive seasons to date in all areas of the division.
For Manchester City, Pep Guardiola will be looking to guide his side to an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League crown, after they fended off competition from Arsenal last season as part of a historic treble.
At the moment, Guardiola and Etihad Stadium officials are looking to refresh and strengthen multiple areas of their first-team squad, with midfield understood to be a particular area of concern for those in recruitment positions.
Now, their latest focus has taken them to the Santiago Bernabeu, with one report crediting Manchester City with an interest in Real Madrid’s Fede Valverde – along with two of their Premier League rivals.
That is according to the information of TEAMTALK, who report that Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all made enquiries with Real Madrid and representatives close to the Uruguay international.
However, it is perhaps unsurprisingly outlined that the message was clear: Fede Valverde is reportedly not looking to move, and more importantly, Real Madrid are not looking to sell one of their first-team stars that continues to play a pivotal role in their future plans.
Speaking earlier this month, Valverde himself today media, “No, no, no, I’m at Real Madrid, trying to enjoy every moment and to continue leaving my mark on this team, which is the best in the world. I want to keep winning titles for the fans.”
This week has already brought about significant developments regarding Manchester City’s regeneration of their midfield, with significant updates arriving on the subject of Mateo Kovacic and Ilkay Gundogan.
The Chelsea and Croatia midfielder is expected to finalise a transfer to Manchester City in the coming days, after the Premier League champions agreed an initial transfer fee of £25 million with Chelsea officials, with a further £5 million coming in title-related add-ons.
As for Ilkay Gundogan, the Germany international is set to bring an end to his seven-year stay at the Etihad Stadium by joining FC Barcelona on a three-year deal upon the expiry of his Manchester City contract this month.
