Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has admitted that he remains uncertain about his future amid interest from two of European football’s premier clubs.

The Portugal international’s name has never been too far from transfer rumours over the past couple of seasons, with a potential move last summer to La Liga via FC Barcelona reaching the closing stages, before financial obstacles blocked a move from coming to fruition.

With the 2023 summer window opening last week, potential deals for the Portuguese treble winner have started to come in, with the Catalan giants retaining interest, and joined by Paris Saint-Germain and a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League.

Despite the offer from Saudi Arabia, Bernardo Silva is expected to turn it down as he wishes to continue playing in European competition.

Amid a flurry of transfer rumours concerning the 28-year-old, the City star has commented on the prospect of leaving the Etihad Stadium in the coming weeks, remaining somewhat uncertain about his future.

“I’ll be very honest, I don’t know,” said Bernardo Silva.”We’ll see in the next few days.”

One reason as to why Bernardo Silva remains cagey during conversation on his future is that he is currently away on international duty with the Portuguese national team, whom he has major ambitions for such as triumphs at the EUROs or the World Cup.

“Even if I knew, it wouldn’t be the space to talk about it [in the national team],” explained Bernardo Silva. “I really want to win a Euro, or a World Cup for Portugal…”

In the event that Bernardo Silva does leave the treble winners this summer, Etihad Stadium officials have been swift at work to negotiate a deal with Chelsea over Mateo Kovacic – who they see as a worthy replacement for the 28-year-old.

A deal for the Croatia international is expected to be completed in the next fortnight, with a small difference in valuations over the player’s transfer fee currently holding up negotiations.
