City insist they are calm about Pep Guardiola’s situation and have contingency plans in place in case he informs them he will not see out his contract.
Several summer transfer targets, including Elliot Anderson, are factoring in Pep Guardiola’s future in their decision-making process, although there is no suggestion players will turn down Manchester City if the Catalan leaves

Rodri: I’m used to interviews being taken out of context
March 28, 10:48 – Quizzed on the social media frenzy his comments on being open to joining Real Madrid have caused, Rodri has responded to doubts looming over his Manchester City future.
Speaking after Spain’s 3-0 win over Serbia on Friday night, the Ballon d’Or winner said: “Well, I’m used to it. If, out of a 50-minute interview, they cut out whatever they want,” as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“In the end, I don’t have much more to say. I’m a person who speaks directly. The interview is there if you want to listen to it in its entirety, and not just certain snippets.”
Solhekol: Man City must be ‘pretty confident’ over Rodri deal
March 27, 15:26 – In response to speculation linking Rodri with a move to Real Madrid, Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has provided a sigh of relief to Manchester City fans over the future of the Ballon d’Or winner.
“What Man City will try and do is have talks with his representatives and get him to agree to sign a new contract,” Solhekol said. “You do have to remember he has had a serious knee injury, which he has been recovering from. That is one of the reasons there haven’t been in-depth talks about extending his contract.
“It would’ve been easy to say he is on international duty and doesn’t want to talk about his club future. He said what privately a lot of players would say. It is very difficult to turn down a big club like Real Madrid if they come in for you.
“We have to retain a sense of perspective. Just because Real Madrid may want a player does not mean they will get him. We do know they are interested in signing a new midfielder this summer. I am sure Rodri is one of the players they will be looking at, they have also been linked with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo at Chelsea. They will have a lot of options.”

Rodri opens door for Real Madrid transfer this summer
March 26, 07:00 – In an interview with Radioestadio Noche amid the ongoing international break, Rodri has confirmed that he is exploring a transfer to Real Madrid as he enters the final year of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium.
“I have one year left on my Manchester City contract,” Rodri said. “At some point, we’ll have to sit down and talk. Even though I’ve played for Atleti (Atletico Madrid), (Real) Madrid isn’t a closed door for me – you can’t turn your back on the best clubs. Playing at the Bernabéu is always incredible, it’s very intimidating.
“I hadn’t planned to play outside of Spain but Manchester City came up (as an option in 2019). I would like to return to the Spanish league, I still follow it. The Premier (League) is my weakness but it is also a very demanding league. For now, I am very happy there.”
