Elliot Anderson issues clear response to Manchester City transfer rumours
Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson has issued a clear response to recent transfer rumours concerning his future, including interest from Manchester City.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the most talked-about midfielders in England over the last 18 months, following a rapid rise at Nottingham Forest. Since arriving from Newcastle in 2024, Anderson has grown into a central figure.
His performances during the 2025/26 campaign have only intensified speculation, with Anderson producing another consistent season and earning senior international recognition under Thomas Tuchel.
Comfortable operating across multiple midfield roles, his versatility has made him an attractive option for elite clubs, and placing him on the radar of Manchester City, who are widely expected to assess midfield reinforcements in the summer.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Nottingham Forest’s UEFA Europa League last-16 play-off second-leg against Fenerbahce this week, Elliot Anderson was quizzed on his own future amid various reports linking him with interest from City and Manchester United.
“I’m just focusing on my football at the moment, performing and trying to give everything for Nottingham Forest,” Elliot Anderson told reporters on Wednesday. “So that’s all that’s on my mind.”
Forest officials will currently be relaxed about the situation, with the club under no immediate pressure to sell. Owner Evangelos Marinakis will no doubt take a firm stance in negotiations, and any future discussions are expected to reflect Anderson’s growing importance.
From Manchester City’s perspective, interest in Anderson aligns with broader planning as Pep Guardiola’s side continue to balance elite experience with emerging talent, and the midfielder’s trajectory makes him a logical candidate.
For now, however, Anderson’s focus remains firmly on the pitch, and while transfer speculation is unlikely to disappear anytime soon, his comments underline a clear intent to let performances dictate what comes next.
