On Sunday afternoon, Manchester City welcome Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium in their first game as Premier League champions for the third season running.

City previously hosted Real Madrid in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final tie, coming into the contest tied on aggregate after a tense first game at the Santiago Bernabeu.

From the early moments, Pep Guardiola’s side pressed the Spanish giants, formulating into a first-half brace from Bernardo Silva, with his first goal coming as a result of him dribbling into the box and putting the ball into the corner of the net.

His second would come just minutes later after the Portuguese star headed a missed shot by Ilkay Gundogan beyond the reach of Thibaut Courtois – with the Belgian having put in a commendable performance himself.

Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez would find their way onto the score sheet in the second half, nailing the door shut on Real Madrid, and booking their tickets for a second Champions League final under Pep Guardiola, where they will play Inter.

On the other side of Sunday’s ticket sits Chelsea, who come into the match off the back of a draw against Nottingham Forest. The largely back-and-forth affair featured two braces, one by former Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, and the other from Taiwo Anwoniyi.

On Saturday afternoon, it was Anwoniyi who ultimately scored the goal which ended Arsenal’s title run, and secured the first of three potential trophies for Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players this season.
