WATCH: Manchester City players celebrate becoming Premier League champions
The Manchester City squad celebrated winning the 2022/23 Premier League title together, as Arsenal suffered a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Pep Guardiola’s men were crowned English champions for the third successive season after Arsenal suffered a second straight defeat on Saturday evening.
City welcome Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, where the Sky Blues will celebrate winning the Premier League title for the fifth time in six years.
An incredible unbeaten run has helped propel Manchester City to a third consecutive title, with the Blues having won 11 successive Premier League matches, including two wins against Arsenal, at both the Emirates Stadium and the Etihad Stadium.
The Blues beat Arsenal 3-1 in North London in February before a momentous 4-1 thrashing at the Etihad Stadium in April.
Since Manchester City’s last Premier League outing against Everton at Goodison Park, Mikel Arteta’s side have lost to both Brighton and Nottingham Forest, abruptly ending the Gunners’ title hopes.
Taiwo Awoniyi’s first half strike proved the difference at the City Ground on Saturday, with the Manchester City squad watching proceedings unfold from the City Football Academy in East Manchester.
New footage from Manchester City has revealed the moment the squad became Premier League champions for a third successive season, as eight players became five-time Premier League winners.
First-team squad members including Rodri, Nathan Ake, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez can all be seen celebrating upon the full-time whistle.
The majority of the City squad were also pictured together, while fans gathered outside the Etihad Stadium to celebrate a seventh Premier League title.
Erling Haaland, who has marked his debut campaign in England by scoring a record-breaking 36 Premier League goals, has become a Premier League champion for the first time.
Fellow summer signing Julian Alvarez will add a Premier League winners medal to his World Cup winners medal, after helping Argentina to victory in Qatar in December.
City are also pursuing two further pieces of silverware, with a UEFA Champions League Final and Emirates FA Cup Final next month.
