Manchester City confirm 21-man travelling squad to face Real Madrid in UEFA Champions League League Phase
Pep Guardiola takes his Manchester City side to the Spanish capital this week for matchday six of the UEFA Champions League’s league phase.
The Premier League giants travel to Madrid aiming to return to winning ways immediately after disappointment on matchday five, when 10 changes made to the starting line-up by Guardiola failed to reap rewards.
A largely stale and sluggish showing from Manchester City opened up a window of opportunity for Bayer Leverkusen to punish in transition, which they did so twice, leaving the Etihad side with plenty of work to do in order to secure last-16 qualification in the competition.
The first of the remaining three games for City is a clash against the tournament’s giants in Real Madrid, before Turkish side Galatasaray visit the Etihad Stadium in the New Year, as the league phase concludes with a trip to the Arctic Circle and Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
The final training session at the City Football Academy on Tuesday morning presented a peek into the list of names available, with all of John Stones, Kalvin Phillips, Rodri, and Mateo Kovacic missing from the squad.
Now, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have confirmed a 21-man travelling party that left Manchester Airport on Tuesday afternoon destined for the capital of Spain ahead of the clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday night!
