Pep Guardiola eyes up talented German winger as Manchester City rebuild continues
With some well-loved players moving on from the Etihad Stadium during the summer, manager Pep Guardiola got his wish to rebuild the squad and freshen up first-team options, as the Manchester City board backed him in doing just that.
The Catalan coach signed a number of new highly-rated players that are already beginning to impress the fanbase as they continue settling into the club and striking up better understandings with new colleagues, and far more is expected from them in the months that lie ahead.
It was pretty well known that as deadline day came to an end, Manchester City had been trying to move additional players out to both trim the group and also to free up additional funds for player investment.
There is a good expectation in some quarters at the club that supporters could will see further sales come the New Year when the January transfer window reopens, and fans who like a flutter will be all over those odds.
A safe, educated guess suggests it is unlikely that there will be many incomings during the month so others might have a punt on Boyle casino free spins options instead, but the speculation rumour mill would lead you to believe that there may be one or two new faces.
With recent revelations of an apparent release fee coming into play for Bournemouth talent Antoine Semenyo in the New Year, Manchester City have naturally been mentioned with having an interest in the 25-year-old Ghanaian international, particular in light of how he has started the current 2025/26 top flight campaign.
Another interesting rumour comes in the shape of FC Cologne’s wide attacker, Said El Mala. The 19-year-old Germany Under-21 international has been impressing in recent years as he begins to make his breakthrough into the professional Bundesliga game.
The youngster signed for Koln in 2024, but remained with Viktoria Koln for that campaign scoring 13 goals in 32 games. This season, he has had his contract extended until the summer of 2030, and in 10 matches so far, he has found the back of the net four times.
Whilst speculation is more on the tentative side for now, it is being said that Pep Guardiola more than has the player on his own radar, and having been impressed with what he has seen so far, the 54-year-old serial-winning manager has tasked the club with actively scouting him for regular updates.
Sky Sports Germany have reported they have tracked club scouts themselves at more recent matches, and they believe that a deal could potentially be done at around the €40 million mark.
That would be a little on the high side given El Mala’s first-team experience right now, but whilst he continues to fall into the category of ‘one to watch’, it would not be the first time that City have taken a punt on a relatively unknown talent from abroad.
