Manchester City receive transfer order from Pep Guardiola to explore Real Madrid midfield signing
Real Madrid could be subject to particular transfer attention from Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, according to new reports from Spain.
The City manager has long been known for his admiration of technically gifted, tactically flexible midfielders, and it appears he has now turned his gaze toward one of Europe’s most exciting young playmakers.
Pep Guardiola, who continues to refine Manchester City’s long-term midfield evolution following the exits of key figures such as İlkay Gündoğan and Kevin De Bruyne, is reportedly eager to identify another creative hub capable of shaping the team’s attacking identity.
City’s recruitment in recent windows has leaned heavily toward youthful, high-ceiling prospects including the likes of Rayan Cherki and Claudio Echeverri, with the aim of gradually blending them into Pep Guardiola’s system.
Now, a move for a Real Madrid talent would, however, represent one of the club’s most ambitious pursuits yet, especially given the stature and negotiating power of the Spanish giants.
Despite the strength of City’s current midfield options, Guardiola seemingly believes that another creative force could elevate the side’s attacking balance and provide flexibility across multiple competitions, with the profile of player City are now eyeing being one of technical gift, tactical maturity, and a capability to operate between the lines in advanced positions.
According to a new report from Defensa Central, Manchester City – on the orders of Pep Guardiola – are interested in seeing whether Real Madrid’s Arda Guler would be interested in a move, with the Turkish international viewed as ‘an ideal player for their style and system’.
However, from the side of Real Madrid, it is stressed that Los Blancos want to improve the player’s contract at the end of the year, with the 20-year-old himself ‘very happy’ in the Spanish capital and wanting to stay for many years, particularly amid trust from Xabi Alonso.
As such, it is further reported that Madrid are ‘very relaxed’, particularly with the player’s contract running until 2029, while a release clause is ‘impossible’ for all clubs to meet.
While a move for Arda Güler appears highly improbable given the financial and contractual realities, Manchester City’s admiration for the player underlines Pep Guardiola’s continued push for creativity and versatility in midfield.
Should Madrid’s stance ever soften, or the player himself seek a more central role, Manchester City could emerge as one of the few clubs capable of matching both his ambition and valuation.
In the short term, City are expected to continue monitoring Güler’s progress in La Liga and at international level, while maintaining focus on their own internal development projects, with the Turkish midfielder’s combination of intelligence, technical precision, and flair aligning perfectly with Guardiola’s footballing ideals.
For now, Pep Guardiola’s admiration merely highlights Manchester City’s relentless search for the next generational talent to define the Etihad Stadium era, and Arda Güler perhaps fits that mould perfectly.
