Confirmed Line-Ups: Manchester City vs Everton (Premier League)
Manchester City take on Everton at the Etihad Stadium on matchday eight of the 2025-26 Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues are in a rich vein of form and have turned a corner since their early season slump marked by back-to-back defeats to Tottenham and Brighton that left Pep Guardiola and co in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
City claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Brentford in west London in their final game before the recent international break, with the in-form Erling Haaland registering his 12th goal of the season for Manchester City in all competitions.
After revamping their first-team squad in the summer transfer window, Guardiola and his new-look Manchester City squad are undergoing a period of transition after a sub-par 2024-25 season wherein the Blues failed to challenge for the Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles.
Guardiola handed an update on his side’s fitness in a press conference on Friday, confirming that Ballon d’Or winning midfielder Rodri will not be available to face the Toffees after pulling his hamstring against Brentford.
Mateo Kovacic is back in full first-team training after undergoing Achilles surgery in the summer, with Rayan Ait-Nouri and Omar Marmoush also in contention after recovering from their respective ankle and thigh issues sustained in August and early September.
Abdukodir Khusanov remains unavailable for Manchester City, who can briefly climb to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday with three points against Everton, who signed Jack Grealish on loan from the eight-time Premier League champions in August.
Grealish is ineligible to feature against his parent club but Guardiola and his Manchester City players are expected to give a warm reception to the club’s record signing, who is also certain to be welcomed to the Etihad Stadium by the home fans on Saturday.
