Robert Jones will take charge of Manchester City’s trip to Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola’s side travel to St Mary’s looking to move within five points of league leaders Arsenal, who face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

City thumped Liverpool 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium last weekend with goals from Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish in the absence of star striker Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian, who has scored 42 goals for Manchester City already this season, returned to first-team training on Wednesday after suffering from a groin injury which forced the 22 year-old to withdraw from international duty last month.

City crashed out of the Carabao Cup at St Mary’s earlier this year, losing 2-0 on the south coast in January.

The Saints remain bottom of the Premier League table, four points adrift of safety, having won just one of their past seven league matches.

Southampton have been able to take points off both Chelsea and Tottenham in recent weeks however, drawing 3-3 with Spurs prior to the March international break.
