Pere Guardiola, the brother of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, is leading the race to represent Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.

Veiga, who has a £35 million release clause, is attracting notable attention from potential Premier League suitors ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester City are one of five English teams reportedly interested in signing the 20 year-old midfielder, with the Spaniard having been directly involved in 13 goals in 26 La Liga appearances so far this season.

City are rumoured to be planning an overhaul of their midfield ahead of the 2023/24 campaign as the futures of both Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva remain uncertain.

Gundogan is out of contract at the end of the season and is wanted by Barcelona, while PSG have recently reignited their interest in Bernardo Silva, who has remained tight-lipped about his plans beyond the current campaign.

Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund, World Cup Winner Alexis Mac Allister and Chelsea pair Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic have all been linked with potential moves to the Etihad Stadium.

The Blues also signed midfielder Maximo Perrone in January, with the young Argentinian having made two appearances for City in matches against Bournemouth and Bristol City.

Gabri Veiga is another midfielder linked with the reigning Premier League champions, and City could be handed a surprise boost in their pursuit of the Spain midfielder.

Pep Guardiola’s brother is set to become the players new agent, with Pere Guardiola claimed to be ‘leading the race’ to represent the player after pitching to Veiga’s sister last Wednesday.

As well as Manchester City; Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Aston Villa all reportedly hold an interest in the Celta Vigo youngster, according Simon Jones.

Amongst Pere’s current clients is fellow Spaniard Sergio Gomez, who signed for Manchester City from RSC Anderlecht last summer.

The 22 year-old has made 16 appearances for City this season and was sent-off in a UEFA Champions League Group Stage clash against FC Copenhagen in October.

Gomez made his debut against Crystal Palace in August before making his full debut versus Sevilla in September.
