Kyle Walker shortlisted for potential Premier League transfer as Manchester City exit nears

Manchester City are nearing a permanent departure of Kyle Walker from the Etihad Stadium this summer, with a new potential suitor emerging within the Premier League.

The England international has entered into a summer period with plenty of uncertainty hanging over his club future, fresh off the back of a temporary agreement with AC Milan in Serie A.

Following difficulties on and off the pitch last season, Walker indicated a firm desire to leave Manchester City during the January transfer window, and despite proposals from the United States and Saudi Arabia, the decision was taken to remain in European football.

However, the aforementioned Italian giants were not convinced by Kyle Walker’s performances during the second-half of the campaign, and as such have opted against triggering their option to buy the player on a permanent deal for around €5 million.

With the defender firmly out of Pep Guardiola’s plans for the forthcoming campaign, and Hugo Viana having identified Newcastle’s Tino Livramento as the priority target in the market, Walker and his entourage have been left scrambling for options in time for the new season.

Now, according to the information of The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Everton have identified Manchester City’s outgoing right-back as a potential summer signing as they look to strengthen in the right-sided full-back position.

Additional reporting from The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson reveals that Walker is one of four right-back options being con­sidered by Everton, with the City man himself keen to explore a possible move to Merseyside.

From the side of manager David Moyes, the Scotsman is said to believe that Walker’s ‘experience and trophy-winning pedigree’ would be an asset to his team, while a deal for the veteran would cost a nominal or ­potentially no fee.

Elsewhere on Everton’s shortlist for the summer market in the right-back role are Kenny Tete, Vladimir ­Coufal and Kyle Walker-Peters.

As for Manchester City and their own hopes of recruiting in the right-back position, it is understood that talks between the Etihad club and those at Newcastle United are currently on hold regarding Tino Livramento.

Ideally, City bosses would have loved to have secured the signing of the England youth international in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, but differences over finances have held back that possibility.

For now, Manchester City are expected to utilise the likes of Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes at the United States-hosted competition, while additional support could come from the likes of John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and John Stones.
