Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodžić has revealed a desire to play for Manchester City in the future, speaking during a new interview.

The Bosnian international has been a mainstay in the Championship club’s system so far this season, registering a total of 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing a further two assists in the process.

Ahmedhodžić is relatively new to scene at Bramall Lane, having joined the club from Malmo FF in July 2022, but has quickly established himself as a fan favourite amongst Blades supporters.

Now, speaking during an interview while away on international duties with Bosnia & Herzegovina, the 24 year-old has admitted a desire to one day play for Manchester City, having watched his nation’s hero Edin Dzeko play for the club.

As translated and relayed by BH Live, Anel Ahmedhodžić told NOVA BH, “Well since I was about 10 years-old, and Edin Džeko started playing for Manchester City, I’ve always followed City.

Ahmedhodžić continued, “And after Džeko, my favourite player was Yaya Toure. Since then, I’ve watched Manchester City every time they play.

“That means I’d like to play for City in the future. I love the football they play.”

Anel Ahmedhodžić may have the opportunity to impress Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City colleagues first-hand in the coming weeks, as Sheffield United take on the reigning Premier League champions in the FA Cup semi-finals in late April.

The Bosnian also plays with two Manchester City players currently, with Tommy Doyle and James McAtee both on loan from the Etihad Stadium at Bramall Lane.

However, the City duo are unlikely to feature against their parent club in the final-four showpiece at Wembley Stadium in April, due to Football Association rules preventing them from doing so in the Cup competition.
