Match Preview: Manchester City vs RB Leipzig (Champions League Last-16 Second-Leg)

On Tuesday night, Manchester City shift their sights back to the Champions League as they welcome RB Leipzig to the Etihad Stadium.

Over the weekend, City travelled to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in Premier League action, looking to take a crucial three points to keep them close to Arsenal at the top of the table.

The Sky Blues would struggle to find success on the offensive front throughout the first-half, despite creating several chances during this time period, most notably two near tap-ins from Erling Haaland.

Yet, the Norwegian superstar would redeem himself late in the second-half, finding the back of the net from the penalty spot, and helping give the Cityzens claim all three points to keep their title race with Mikel Arteta’s men fuelled.

Tuesday night’s Champions League last-16 second-leg sees RB Leipzig visit the Etihad Stadium, with the Bundesliga club coming into the contest off the back of a 3-0 thrashing of Borussia Monchengladbach courtesy of goals from Timo Werner, Emil Forsberg, and Josko Gvardiol.

When the English and German sides met in late February for the first-leg of the Champions League knock-out stage, the match ended in a draw with Riyad Mahrez’s first-half goal cancelled out by a second-half header from the aforementioned Gvardiol.

Should Manchester City win on Tuesday night, then they will advance to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the sixth consecutive season.
