Erling Haaland issues three-word message on Manchester City injury recovery with exciting video for fans
Manchester City fans were greeted by an encouraging video from Erling Haaland this week featuring a three-word message from the striker on his recovery from injury.
The Norway international striker was ruled out for a number of weeks late last month when he sustained an ankle injury during Manchester City’s vital FA Cup quarter-final victory away to Bournemouth.
Such was the concern around the striker’s injury that Haaland was spotted leaving the Vitality Stadium with a protective boot around the affected area, while also moving with the aid of crutches and jetting out for further assessment on the problem in Barcelona.
A follow-up statement from the club confirming the injury offered some hope to supporters with regards to hopes of seeing Erling Haaland in action again during the run-in this season, and at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
“Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup,” Manchester City said in a statement.
And now, in the first public footage of Erling Haaland in training following his confirmed absence, huge optimism has been handed out over whether the striker could feature again sooner than expected.
In a video first uploaded on Erling Haaland’s official Snapchat story, the Manchester City striker showcased himself at work in the club’s training centre running on his feet in the gym accompanied by a physio.
At the end of the video, which was also later shared on his Instagram story, the 24-year-old told viewers, “We’re getting there”, in an exciting update on his recovery from an ankle injury sustained earlier this month.
It remains to be seen whether the progress undertaken by Erling Haaland in his recovery is sizeable enough for Pep Guardiola to be questioned on the striker’s return date during his next press conference.
The Manchester City manager is due to address the media on Friday afternoon ahead of the club’s final-ever visit to Goodison Park on Saturday, with David Moyes’ in-form Everton the next challenge to the club’s top-five hopes.
It is the first of two games that precedes the club’s visit to Wembley Stadium a week on Sunday, with Nottingham Forest awaiting at the semi-final stage of the FA Cup, with a place in a final against either Crystal Palace or Aston Villa up for grabs.
