Manchester City target move for Blackburn Rovers attacking midfielder with Adidas contract
Officials from Manchester City are looking to get ahead of the rest in the chase for one of English football’s best rising talents as they look to raid Blackburn Rovers.
It is the latest name to be linked with Manchester City from the perspective of strengthening the club’s future prospects long beyond the time of Pep Guardiola’s expected tenure at the Etihad Stadium.
The latest report to emerge follows on from confirmed deals for a number of rising teenagers within the game, viewed as talents to be developed within the City Football Academy system and potentially within the City Football Group, too.
Manchester City finalised an agreement with Philadelphia Union for one of the United States’ most exciting prospects in recent years, as Cavan Sullivan (15) is expected to make the switch to the Premier League club upon turning 18-years-old.
And while there is undoubtedly a strong presence of Manchester City scouts spread across the globe, their search for prospects much closer to home and even within the immediate region surrounding the Etihad Campus continues.
According to the information of journalist Alan Nixon, City want to sign Blackburn Rovers’ South African attacking midfield talent Camden Schaper, with the 13-year-old standing out at youth level just over a year into his time in England.
Despite his age, it is detailed that Schaper already has a contract with Adidas, while his younger brother – Astin, a talented young goalkeeper – is already on the books at the Etihad Stadium at just 12-years-old.
Manchester City’s Academy age groups continue to compete and impress at the very highest level with the latest roster of Under-18s reaching the FA Youth Cup final for a second successive year this campaign.
Such is the talent of the club’s players that while there may not always be a direct and easy route into the first-team picture at the end of their development within the Academy, there is always set to be interest from clubs across the very top of the game.
Most recently, Bayern Munich and Ajax scouting officials are monitoring the talents and performances of Divine Mukasa, while Manchester City are working hard to keep the 17-year-old who has 17 goals and 25 assists across all competitions so far this season.
