Kyle Walker contract reports ‘wide of the mark’ following weekend incident

A new report has noted that speculation around Manchester City’s intentions to terminate Kyle Walker’s contract is far from accurate.
Walker, 32, was allegedly exposing himself in a bar in Wilmslow, Manchester on a day off from club duties, footage of which was released by The Sun earlier this week.
The England international is understood to have reported on time for training the morning after the incident and proceeded to train as normal with the Manchester City squad.
City have not commented on the incident involving the right-back, deeming it a private matter on a day off, with no internal investigations ongoing at the Etihad Stadium, as per multiple reports.
The Athletic further reported that the Premier League champions will not look to fine or suspend Walker based on what the club have seen.
However, following their initial breaking story on the matter, The Sun went on to claim that Manchester City officials have cancelled talks with Walker over a contract renewal.
Walker joined Manchester City from Tottenham in 2017 and has over a year left on his current deal in the north-west, where he has won a plethora of domestic success under Pep Guardiola, including four Premier League titles.
According to GOAL, reports suggesting Manchester City are looking to terminate Kyle Walker’s existing contract are ‘wide off the mark’.
It has been mentioned that no extension talks have yet been held between the club and the Sheffield United academy graduate, who has amassed 236 outings across all competitions during a five-and-a-half year spell at City.
Walker played the full 90 minutes in Manchester City’s recent 2-0 win over Newcastle United and is expected to feature when the Blues visit Crystal Palace on Saturday.
City remain five points adrift of league leaders Arsenal and will be keen to keep up the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s side, who face Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
With three victories on the spin heading into Saturday’s meeting with Crystal Palace, Guardiola will be desperate to build on City’s recent winning run ahead of next week’s all-important Champions League Round of 16 return leg against RB Leipzig.
