Manchester City take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon hoping to make amends for the difficult circumstances in the reverse fixture.

Pep Guardiola and his players have had a positive start to the new month after the international break, reaching a seventh successive FA Cup semi-final with victory away at Bournemouth, and recording a win in the Premier League over Leicester City at home.

The fixtures begin to slow down in their scheduling after this weekend’s cross-town visit, with the Premier League’s top-four and the FA Cup the only remaining focusses of Manchester City in the final weeks of the campaign.

For Manchester United, Ruben Amorim’s players have now gone eight Premier League matches at Old Trafford without keeping a clean sheet in what is their longest such run since 12 contests between April and December 2021.

The Red Devils have shipped 17 goals in nine games under Ruben Amorim, with the Portuguese coach having the worst goals conceded per game ratio of any permanent Manchester United manager on home soil in the Premier League (1.89).

City come into the fixture with a usual list of injury problems as Manuel Akanji, John Stones, and Nathan Ake remain out of defence with Rodri continuing to be sidelined, while Erling Haaland has sustained a difficult ankle problem to keep him out for up to six more weeks.
