AC Milan star Rafael Leao named as part of ‘very big’ summer squad refresh at Manchester City
Manchester City’s search for a new forward this summer could reportedly lead the Blues to AC Milan star Rafael Leao.
Pep Guardiola looks set for a significant overhaul of his Manchester City squad, with a series of departures and arrivals planned as part of a major refresh this summer at the Etihad Stadium.
Midfield duo Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan have both been linked with a possible move away, with the latter out of contract at the end of the current campaign and yet to sign a new deal with the Premier League champions.
Aymeric Laporte is also subject to transfer speculation while Kalvin Phillips, who joined from Leeds United last summer, has been linked with a host of other Premier League sides including West Ham.
As well as overhauling their midfield, City are also widely claimed to be interested in adding a new forward to their side ahead of next season.
Serie A stars Rafael Leao and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have both been mooted in the past, with Leao described as “one of the first names” on Manchester City’s list of possible forwards.
Matteo Moretto claims that the Sky Blues are “willing to understand the feasibility of the operation” to sign the 23 year-old, who’s current contract expires in 2024.
The Portuguese international has 15 direct goal involvements in 23 Serie A appearances already this season, while the attacker has also been involved in four goals in seven Champions League showings.
Moretto reports that AC Milan are yet to “rule out” the possibility of the forward leaving, should the right offer arrive at the right time.
The journalist also writes that the Blues are planning for a “very big” summer following the conclusion of the current campaign.
