Confirmed Match Officials: Manchester City vs Newcastle (Premier League)
Simon Hooper will take charge of Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Newcastle, it has been announced.
Manchester City will have the opportunity to move within two points of league leaders Arsenal on Saturday afternoon, if they can overcome a Newcastle side which are winless in their past four matches.
Eddie Howe’s side haven’t won a Premier League game since mid-January and suffered a 2-0 defeat in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium last Sunday.
The Magpies were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw with City at St James’ Park in August and have lost just two league games all season.
City, who qualified for the FA Cup quarter-finals for a fifth successive season in midweek, return to the Etihad Stadium this weekend after a series of away matches.
The Sky Blues bounced back from consecutive draws with wins over Bournemouth and Bristol City.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium, the Premier League have announced the match officials for Newcastle’s visit to Manchester City.
Match Referee
Simon Hooper will take charge of proceedings at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The referee has officiated 19 matches so far this season, showing 59 yellow cards and no red cards.
Hooper last took charge of City in January, when the Blues beat Tottenham 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium.
Assistant Referees
Hooper will be accompanied in East Manchester by Assistant Referees Adrian Holmes and Simon Long.
Video Assistant Referees
Overviewing proceedings from Stockley Park will be Video Assistant Referee Michael Salisbury and Assistant Video Assistant Referee Dan Robathan.
Fourth Official
Anthony Taylor has been named as the Fourth Official.
The official will be overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Pep Guardiola and Eddie Howe.
