Mo Salah warns Manchester City will “strike back” despite six-game winless run ahead of Liverpool clash
Liverpool’s superstar forward Mohamed Salah has warned his teammates that Manchester City will “strike back” this season despite their current poor run of form.
Manchester City travel to Anfield on Sunday afternoon off the game of six straight matches without a win, and their last victory now coming over a month ago when a single Erling Haaland goal defeated Southampton at the Etihad Stadium.
Tottenham made it five successive defeats for Pep Guardiola’s side last Saturday via a 0-4 win at the Etihad Stadium, and three defeats in a row in the Premier League, whilst a 3-3 draw against Feyenoord just a few days later would end that losing run.
However, the clash with the Dutch side in the UEFA Champions League saw Manchester City take a three-goal lead in the game, only to concede three goals in succession during the final 15 minutes to share the points.
Speaking during a recent interview with Sky Sports, looking ahead to Liverpool’s Premier League meeting with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, Mohamed Salah has stressed the quality of the Premier League champions, despite their ongoing run of poor form.
Asked whether Pep Guardiola’s side remain Liverpool’s main rivals for the Premier League title, the Liverpool legend said, “Yeah, of course. Man City is Man City, they’re having a bad time now but they’re going to strike back.
“They have a great coach (in Pep Guardiola), great players, and hopefully we can beat them (on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League).”
Salah and his Liverpool teammates could not be on a more contrasting run of form themselves, having won the large majority of their cross-competition fixtures so far this season, and entering into this weekend’s clash off the back of a 2-0 win over Real Madrid.
Arne Slot will certainly not be taking anything for granted when his side prepare to take on Manchester City, and the former Feyenoord boss has already warned that Pep Guardiola will find the winning formula very soon through one of his trademark tactical masterplans.
