PGMOL confirm match official change to Arsenal vs Manchester City clash following controversy
Arsenal against Manchester City has seen a change to the match officials list following a controversial decision in a recent Premier League clash, the PGMOL have confirmed.
John Brooks – who was responsible for Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan having a goal wrongly disallowed for offside against Crystal Palace, which led to an apology from Howard Webb – had been on VAR duty for Arsenal against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
However, that appointment has now been altered, affecting both the top of the table clash this week, and Liverpool’s upcoming Merseyside derby fixture against bitter city rivals Everton.
In a decision confirmed by the PGMOL on Monday morning, it has been announced that John Brooks has been removed as the VAR for Arsenal against Manchester City, with his replacement now announced.
David Coote will now take up the role of video assistant referee for Manchester City’s trip to the Emirates Stadium this week, in direct contact from Stockley Park with the match referee for the match; Anthony Taylor.
Amended match officials for Arsenal vs Manchester City:
Referee: Anthony Taylor
Assistants: Gary Beswick, Adam Nunn
Fourth official: Darren England
VAR: David Coote
Assistant VAR: Marc Perry
