Manchester City have been handed a significant update on the fitness of Jeremy Doku, who recently withdrew from Belgium’s November international squad through injury.

The 24-year-old has endured a mixed campaign thus far in what has largely been a reflection of his Manchester City career to date, having arrived at the club from Stade Rennais in a big-money move in the summer of 2023.

With a big price tag and plenty of flair to his game, Manchester City’s supporters have widely exported more from the Belgian, who is competing for a place in Pep Guardiola’s front-three with Jack Grealish for the most part of the season.

Unfortunately for both Doku and Grealish, the pair have sustained injury difficulties at the exact same period of the season, opening up an opportunity for Matheus Nunes to impress and offer a new dimension to the attacking trio at the Etihad Stadium.

Competition for the starting berth can only be a positive for Guardiola, who will almost certainly call upon all of his squad’s options should Manchester City manage to sustain a competitive edge deeper into the campaign.

And as such, an update offered by Jeremy Doku on his personal social media channels will come as a welcome boost to all those of a Manchester City persuasion following his early exit from the Belgium camp this week.

In an upload to social media, Doku revealed to his followers that he remains in Manchester and working towards a full recovery from a thigh injury alongside staff at the club’s City Football Academy training centre.

Doku is among a long list of injured stars within Pep Guardiola’s squad, largely being viewed as the core reason as to why the club have endured a run of four matches in a row being on the losing end for the first time since 2006.

A central defensive pairing of Ruben Dias and John Stones remain ruled out through fitness struggles, whilst Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker continue to their work towards full match sharpness following a declining involvement in the match day picture this season.

Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad will return to action on Saturday 23 November as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Etihad Stadium marking the return of Premier League action to the club’s hectic fixture schedule.
