Manchester City insider offers detailed response to Jack Grealish fall-out rumours
Jack Grealish’s ongoing absence from Manchester City action but selection for England duty this month has caused speculation and conversation on social media.
The 29-year-old has been absent from first-team training and matchday activities for several matches having been ruled out through injury by Pep Guardiola following the dramatic 1-2 away win at Wolves last month.
While an initial timeframe of seven to 10 days was publicly exclaimed by Pep Guardiola on Grealish’s recovery, the England international has long extended that absence and will not feature for the club until after the November pause for national team duties.
Matters were further complicated over the last few days when despite remaining absent for the Premier League champions, Grealish was selected for England duty by interim Lee Carsley, leaving Pep Guardiola furious over the lack of dialogue from the FA regarding the selection.
In light of the confusion caused by the international call-up, some sections of Manchester City’s online fanbase have jumped to the conclusion that Pep Guardiola and the former Aston Villa captain have had a fall-out behind-the-scenes, leaving Grealish away from the squad.
Speaking as part of a wide-ranging response to recent unfounded claims spreading across social media, Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X offered total clarity surrounding Jack Grealish’s ongoing situation at the Etihad Stadium.
“Jack Grealish is a new dad, with all that entails and a few things going on at home. He’s not an alcoholic, he didn’t want to leave in the summer, he doesn’t want to leave next summer. He’s been excellent when he has played this season,” the report explained.
“He’s not been going AWOL. Loves Pep (Guardiola) and the club to bits. Pep is always there for him. He has been frustrated in his own body, but make no mistake of his commitment and desire to help his team-mates.
“He earns £300,000 a week, nobody is coming to sign him, nor is he up for sale. Like any player, if he wanted to leave, the Club would not stand in his way. Jack is someone who probably cares a little too much and that can be his biggest enemy.”
The source closed, “He’s been injured, nothing sinister. A few too many wanting to stir the pot just because City decided to pay £100 million for someone who was never expected to be (Lionel) Messi by Pep. Back the lad.”
Jack Grealish and Pep Guardiola have remained hugely complimentary of one another throughout the season so far, despite the former’s struggles to make himself fully-fit and available for selection in parts of the campaign.
Grealish’s latest fitness battle has opened up a rare opportunity for Matheus Nunes to excel in Manchester City’s front-three, and the Portugal international has taken the opportunity with both hands by providing goals and assists aplenty in recent outings.
Pep Guardiola is not due to speak to the media to offer any further updates on the situation until after the international break, when Manchester City will be putting together preparations for their home clash against Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium.
