Confirmed Match Officials: Tottenham vs Manchester City (Carabao Cup Fourth Round)
The EFL have confirmed the list of match officials to oversee proceedings between Tottenham and Manchester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round this week.
The Premier League heavyweights will battle it out in North London this week with the visitors heavily conscious of their depleted first-team options due to injury, and the hectic fixture schedule that looms over the course of the next two weeks.
The visit to Tottenham on Wednesday night is the first of four consecutive away fixtures for Manchester City across all competitions prior to the international break, with a visit to Bournemouth in the Premier League to follow on Saturday afternoon.
The south coast trip will then be followed by another European outing and a visit to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League, before returning to the south coast of England to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the top-flight.
As such, Pep Guardiola will take no risks when it comes to the League Cup this week, whilst remaining intent on competing with Ange Postecoglou’s side, who are under the pressure of winning a trophy in their manager’s second season at the club.
Ahead of the meeting between Tottenham and Manchester City, the English Football League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!
Match Referee
The EFL have confirmed Robert Jones will oversee proceedings between Tottenham and Manchester City, in what will be his first Carabao Cup fixture of the new and ongoing 2024/25 season.
Jones is yet to take on a match involving Manchester City this campaign, but has come across Spurs before, overseeing their 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League in early September, issuing eight yellow cards across the 90 minutes.
As for contests involving City, the 37-year-old official is yet to see Pep Guardiola’s side lose in a contest managed by himself, with nine wins across all competitions in the nine matches officiated by Jones.
The last time Robert Jones refereed a contest involving Manchester City came at the Etihad Stadium over a year ago, as the Premier League champions dismissed of Brighton & Hove Albion by a 2-1 scoreline.
Assistant Referees
Accompanying Jones from the roles of assistant referees at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be Neil Davies and Simon Long, the EFL have confirmed.
Video Assistant Referees
VAR will not be in operation at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fourth Official
Ensuring manners on the touchline and between the two dugouts will be David Coote, who has been appointed into the role of fourth official on Wednesday night.
