Pep Guardiola hit with fresh attacking blow as two Manchester City wingers miss training today
Manchester City have been issued further concerns with regards to their squad fitness on Tuesday as a further two attacking names were absent from training.
Pep Guardiola and his side return to action following Sunday’s dramatic win over Wolves at Molineux with a home clash against Sparta Prague at the Etihad Stadium in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Manchester City manager has already confirmed a number of absences from his squad for the meeting of the Czech club, with Kyle Walker recovering from a knee problem and Kevin De Bruyne still short of full match readiness and fitness.
But despite the rest of the squad barring Oscar Bobb and Rodri seemingly being deemed ready and available, a further two names were absent from first-team training at the City Football Academy on Tuesday.
Among those missing was Jeremy Doku, who started in the 1-2 win over Wolves at the weekend and contributed heavily to Manchester City’s attacking output in an intense end-to-end fixture at times.
Additionally, Jack Grealish was also missing from the 24-man squad that was spotted and marked as present at the CFA in the Manchester sunshine this week, with a number of Academy starlets taking their place on the grass.
Among the young faces given the opportunity to impress was Farid Alfa-Ruprecht, who is excelling for the club’s Elite Development Squad this season, having also been issued the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for September.
Following the new absentees and the confirmed names missing from the Manchester City squad, here is the entire 24-man squad list spotted at the City Football Academy in training ahead of matchday at the Etihad Stadium.
Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega Moreno, Scott Carson
