Manchester City are reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ over the signing of Irish wonderkid, Michael Noonan.

The 16-year-old striker is currently developing with and operating for St Patrick’s Athletic in the Irish Premier Division and further highlighting his rapid rise within the game, is already part of the under-17 Republic of Ireland national team.

The Dublin-born forward started out at Ballyoulster before joining Athletic’s under-19 side back in 2022. Having been promoted into the senior side earlier this year, Noonan has been in good form scoring three and assisting once in five Leinster Senior Cup games.

Operating predominantly as a striker, Noonan’s performances over in Ireland have now seemingly impressed those over at the Premier League champions, with Manchester City’s board seeing great potential in the young talent.

That is the information revealed by reputable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has suggested that Manchester City are now looking to add the player to their esteemed youth ranks at the City Football Academy.

Noonan himself is also said to be in favour of moving to Pep Guardiola’s club, according to Fabrizio Romano, who goes on to add that Manchester City’s academy are looking long-term with the potential acquisition.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Italian journalist, “Manchester City advance in talks to sign 16-year-old talented striker Michael Noonan from St Patricks.

“Irish striker part of U17 national team is considered a talent for the future as Man City Academy keep tracking young gems for long term. Noonan wants the move.”

The young forward would join a whole host of Irish players who made a move to the Etihad Stadium over the last two decades, including the likes of Stephen Ireland, Shay Given, and club icon and legend, Richard Dunne.
