“I’m starving!” – Erling Haaland’s agent recalls hilarious moment Man City striker reviewed social media report
Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland is known for being dedicated to his work on the field, but his agent has now shone light on his committed mentality to off-the-field matters.
Haaland joined the Etihad Stadium project last summer, and has since gone on to take English football by storm, scoring a staggering 31 goals and registering a further three assists in just 27 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions.
The young forward appears to be enjoying every single second of his new venture with Manchester City, and there remains a hope among those within the club that his experience over the course of his contract will be enough to make him believe that his even longer-term future is best placed in the north of England.
For the time being though, his future will almost certainly not be on his mind, with Haaland the type of player to ensure that his head is kept down and focussed on the task at hand – both on and off the field.
This week, speaking as part of an exclusive interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Erling Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta has revealed the brilliant moment she brought a report on his social media to his attention – just a minor element of the various business commitments footballers engage in throughout their day-to-day careers.
It is explained that during a meeting at the Norwegian’s home, the Manchester City striker became so engaged in reviewing the report that he had to interrupt his reading and ask Pimenta whether he could eat.
“It is impossible to think of him and not smile. He is hilarious,” said Rafaela Pimenta. “We both look at each other and start laughing, it’s inevitable. It’s one facet of him, the other is that he’s hyper-professional and serious about his work.”
“I recently saw him at his house, I brought him a report from his social media… 84 pages of it. He did not want highlights, he wanted to read it in its entirety.”
She continued, “After three hours without getting up, studying it, he suddenly said: ‘I’m starving, when will you let me eat something?’ By God, Erling, you are at home, eat when you want! He is a very devoted boy.”
It is this dedication to his career that many within football believe will take the 22 year-old right to the very top of the game – an element to Erling Haaland’s pending development in the sport that Rafaela Pimenta also agrees with.
When asked by AS just how far the former Borussia Dortmund striker could go within football, she responded, “He’s in a place that is not yet known in football. He is the peak of the modern player.”
“He will go further than those who came before him because of everything we now know about the human body, the training possibilities, nutrition… He will break all records.”
Erling Haaland was absent from Manchester City training on Tuesday afternoon, as the Premier League champions put together some of their final preparations ahead of the weekend’s top-flight clash against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.
However, as reported by City Xtra, Haaland’s absence was due to ‘personal reasons’ as opposed to any concerns over fitness or injury.
