Manchester City fans vote on Txiki Begiristain’s best-ever signings ahead of Etihad Stadium exit
Manchester City supporters have voted on who they feel have been Txiki Begiristain’s best-ever signings in his Director of Football role at the Etihad Stadium.
The Premier League champions confirmed earlier this month that after 12 years at the club, Begiristain will step away from his full-time role as Etihad Stadium Director of Football at the end of the ongoing 2024/25 season.
It has been detailed that the 60-year-old official will formally exit Manchester City following the Club’s involvement in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, and will be succeeded by Hugo Viana of Sporting CP.
The Portuguese official will then begin his own full-time role as Manchester City’s Director of Football in the summer of 2025, but will collaborate with Txiki Begiristain in the preceding months to ensure a smooth transition, Manchester City have confirmed.
Throughout his time at the club, and since joining from FC Barcelona and working alongside Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini, and Pep Guardiola, Begiristain has finalised and worked on a number of major signings that have brought huge success to the football club.
And ranking those signings is almost an impossible task for supporters given the outstanding level of names that have been brought into the club, but the top-15 have been decided upon in a poll put towards supporters on social media.
In a post that has now been seen almost 300,000 times on social media platform X, Manchester City supporters have selected their best signings made under Txiki Begiristain!
