Manchester City set to complete second signing of January transfer window

Manchester City are on the verge of agreeing their second signing of the January transfer window.

The Premier League champions, who have had a dramatic conclusion to the transfer window following the shock departure of full-back Joao Cancelo to Bayern Munich, are reportedly set to agree their second signing of the month.

Earlier this month the Blues completed the signing of 20 year-old midfielder Maximo Perrone, who penned a five-and-a-half contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Signing for a reported £8 million, the Argentina U20 international is set to move to Manchester shortly, though it yet to be seen whether he will feature for Pep Guardiola’s side this season.

City are now on the verge of completing a second signing according to Fabrizio Romano, after agreeing a deal to sign teenager Lewys Benjamin from Cardiff City.

The goalkeeper, who plays for Cardiff’s U16’s and has represented Wales at U17 level, has signed paperwork and is undergoing medical tests ahead of a proposed move.

Benjamin will join Manchester City in the summer, reports Romano.

City are not expected to add to their first-team squad on Deadline Day however are set for a significant summer of business, with a major shake-up of Pep Guardiola’s side mooted.

Ilkay Gundogan is out of contract at the end of the current campaign while Bernardo Silva has already reinforced his intentions to potentially play elsewhere in Europe.

Joao Cancelo’s exit is also expected to be made permanent, with Bayern Munich having an option to sign the Portuguese international for €70 million.
