Kyle Walker is attracting transfer interest from one of European football’s most prominent clubs, according to new claims this week.

The England international full-back is now into the penultimate year of his existing contract at Manchester City, with his most recent extension with the club being signed in 2019 and running until the summer of 2024.

Alongside the meteoric rise of teenage full-back Rico Lewis this season, and City’s constant desire to improve their playing squad, some concerns over just how long Walker has in Sky Blue have began to emerge this season.

While there is no doubting the vast experience and football knowhow at the disposal of the 32 year-old, the fast-moving nature of football may mean that Walker is deemed surplus to requirements by the football club in the coming months.

As such, reports this week have speculated that one of Europe’s prominent clubs is eyeing a deal for the former Tottenham and Sheffield United defender – at a cut price fee given the player’s age and contractual situation with the reigning Premier League Champions.

That is according to the information of A Spor, who report that Turkish football giants Fenerbahce are keen on Kyle Walker, and are preparing to make an offer for him.

Interestingly, the report suggests that this offer would come during the ongoing winter transfer window, with a figure of between €6 million and €7 million being mooted, while the player already has the approval of Fenerbahce coach Jorge Jesus.

With Turkey’s winter market open until 8th February, it is suggested that Fenerbahce’s interest in Walker may become more intense in the next two to three days.

Although an exit for Kyle Walker in the upcoming summer transfer window cannot be ruled out at this stage, any first-team departures during the ongoing market are highly-unlikely, with Pep Guardiola’s side in the middle of an intense Premier League title race,

The expectation around the football club is that there are set to be no major arrivals or departures from Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad mid-season, while loan moves for academy stars may still be on the agenda for the second-half of the season.

Interestingly, Kyle Walker was named among a list of five Manchester City stars supposedly interested in a switch away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, alongside the likes of Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva.

How much truth there is in these reports, only time will tell.
