Manchester City discover Carabao Cup fourth round opponents following completed draw
Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players have now discovered who they will face in the Carabao Cup fourth round this season following Wednesday night’s draw.
The reigning Premier League champions largely cruised into the next round of the first cup competition of the 2024/25 campaign with victory over Watford at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.
Having returned to on-field duties just 49 hours after beating Arsenal in the Premier League, Manchester City’s much-changed line-up dominated proceedings against the Championship side, leading 2-0 at the half-time interval courtesy of Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes.
In a contrasting second-half, City failed to make their opportunities count in front of goal, and a late flurry from the visitors including a goal from Tom Ince gave Pep Guardiola’s side plenty to think about, before eventually getting across the line unscathed.
Manchester City have as such maintained their unbeaten start to the season and look towards the weekend’s action when they travel to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park in the Premier League.
Whilst hoping to claim the Carabao Cup for a fifth time under Pep Guardiola, despite intending to chop and change starting line-ups throughout, Manchester City will next face the challenge of Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the fourth round.
Completed Carabao Cup Fourth Round draw
Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday
Southampton vs Stoke City
Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City
AFC Wimbledon OR Newcastle United vs Chelsea
Manchester United vs Leicester City
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool
Preston North End vs Arsenal
Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace
When will Carabao Cup fourth round matches be played?
Round Four ties will take place week commencing 28 October.
For Manchester City, that means any fourth round tie would follow a home Premier League match against Southampton on Saturday 26 October, but precede a trip to Bournemouth on Saturday 2 November.
