Confirmed Match Officials: Manchester City vs Watford (Carabao Cup Third Round)
David Webb has been appointed by the EFL as match referee for Manchester City’s Carabao Cup third round tie against Watford.
The contest at the Etihad Stadium will be Manchester City’s second match in just 51 hours, having taken on Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a 2-2 draw after a hotly-contested affair.
The result means Manchester City remains both unbeaten in the Premier League, but also across all competitions so far this season, and will be hoping to reach the fourth round of the League Cup despite little time to prepare and recover from the weekend’s result.
Tom Cleverley and Watford’s visit to Manchester City finds itself between Pep Guardiola’s challenge of a clash against Arsenal and next Saturday’s trip to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park in the Premier League.
But ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and Championship side Watford, the English Football League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium
Match Referee
The EFL have confirmed that David Webb will take charge of proceedings at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night, in what will be the first Manchester City match taken charge of by the match official.
Across competitions so far this season, Webb has officiated four matches, all of which have come in the EFL Championship. In those outings, a total of 12 yellow cards have been issued, with no red cards or penalties awarded.
David Webb became an EFL Referee in 2008 following spells in the Northern League and the National League. Having now taken charge of over 500 matches in professional football, Webb joined the Select Group 2 list last season enabling him to concentrate full time on refereeing.
Webb also notably represented the PGMOL at the Dallas Cup in 2009 and as part of the exchange programme to Australia in 2018, before also taking charge of the League Two Play-Off Final between Coventry City and Exeter City in 2018.
Assistant Referees
Accompanying David Webb at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night, Mark Dwyer and Matthew Smith have been appointed as assistant referees.
