Manchester City winger Savinho has admitted to placing ‘a lot of pressure’ on himself over providing assists and opportunities for Erling Haaland to score.

The Brazilian registered his second assist of his time in a Manchester City shirt on Sunday afternoon, as he combined excellently to provide Erling Haaland with a golden opportunity to give his side the lead, which the Norwegian did in style.

Savinho took the ball excellently with his back to goal on the halfway line, turning past Riccardo Calafiori with his first touch before driving towards the heart of Arsenal’s defence on the retreat.

Haaland found himself in between Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in typical Haaland fashion, before toe-poking the ball beyond a helpless and onrushing David Raya to give Manchester City the advantage inside 10 minutes.

Ultimately however, a lot more would ensue in the game that would mean Savinho’s assist and Erling Haaland’s 10th goal of the season would not be a winning strike for Manchester City, but it was still a moment to be proud of for the Brazil international.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, the Brazilian summer signing offered an insight into the pressure over contributing to the Norwegian striker’s antics in front of goal.

“I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself,” the 20-year-old revealed. “I’m getting many opportunities, and sometimes I don’t get the last pass right.”

Manchester City’s big-money summer signing continued, “Haaland jokes with me in training and before games, asking me to assist him. Today, I got it right! It’s easy! He made a beautiful movement, creating the space for me to pass to him.”

Savinho’s second assist of the season means he is currently the joint-top provider for goalscorers, with Bernardo Silva having also registered two assists across all competitions for Manchester City.

It is all part of a stellar start to life at the Etihad Stadium for Savinho, who has settled into the right-wing slot under Pep Guardiola seamlessly having mastered his work within the City Football Group whilst on-loan at Girona last season.

Oscar Bobb may provide a further challenge to Savinho’s right-winger credentials further down the line, with the Norway international ongoing in his recovery from a fractured bone in his leg sustained prior to the start of the Premier League season.
